MTV blog by the MTV Mole: day 5
07 November 2008
After days of hype and anticipation, the MTV Europe Music Awards are going home after one of the most spectacular nights Liverpool has ever seen.
The mole will miss his new favourite sport of celebrity Liverpool bingo – seeing who can spot the best A-list celebrity in the most unexpected location.
Among my favourites were Leona Lewis, emergency shopping in Flannels; Kanye West looking for a posh shirt in Gieves & Hawkes; model Daisy Lowe looking effortlessly beautiful walking around Cavern Walks and Sir Paul McCartney walking through the Met Quarter chewing gum.
As for the show itself, it was wall to wall glamour in the front of house celebrity hangout, known as the glamour pit.
Leona Lewis was spotted at the bar catching up on some Scouse gossip with Aintree’s Heidi Range and clearly it isn’t all bad being injured as footballer Michael Owen proved, living it up with wife Louise after he’d presented one of the awards.
A few familiar faces were also spotted barely containing their excitement to be rubbing shoulders with the A-listers, including former Brookie actress Suzanne Collins and Hollyoaks babes Sarah Dunne and Helen Noble. But then again, who can blame them with the likes of Anastacia and Pink swanning around.
As for the after show parties, where do I begin?
Alex Curran left hubbie Steven Gerrard at home to babysit so she could party at Newz bar until the early hours.
Kanye West was seen eating a bowl of what looked like Scouse in the middle of the dance floor at Circo while Jared Leto spent half the night having his photo taken and signing autographs for his fans.
Take That’s Mark Owen looked a bit lost as he walked around Circo on his own while the rest of his bandmates had gone back to their hotel for an early night.
And Liverpool FC footballer Jermaine Pennant looked particularly impressed with the angle-grinding dancing girls at the Echo Arena’s official party at Pan Am.
In less than 24 hours the stage will have been dismantled and packed away ready for the next event to move in to the arena. It’s hard to believe it’s all over but at least it gives the mole a chance for a well earned rest...
